A PERSONAL INTERPRETATION
My sleep-at-night scale
I love a good night’s sleep. This framework helps me understand what I own, identify what could keep me up at night and size each position accordingly. It cannot remove uncertainty; it helps me decide how much uncertainty I am comfortable carrying.
80–100Perfect sleep. I wake up refreshed. The research profile is strong enough that ordinary market noise does not usually change my view.65–79.9A normal night’s sleep. I may wake once during the night.I generally wake up rested, but I remain attentive to the weaker parts of the thesis.50–64.9It takes me a while to fall asleep—and it is hard to stay asleep. The uncertainties deserve closer attention and regular reassessment.Below 50I won’t sleep at all. That is why I keep companies in this range to only a small part of my own portfolio.
Guardrail Flagged: regardless of the weighted total, one pillar at 4 or lower may still be the thing that keeps me up at night.
Decision Rules
Apply the guardrail, then classify the weighted total.
